NVFS has been serving the community since 1924, when a group of volunteers gathered together to provide coal to poor families during the winter.

Hugo Aguas is the Assistant Vice President of Human Resources for Inova Fairfax Hospital. Hugo’s career has been in health care human resources administration, having worked for different health care organizations in California, Ohio, Washington, and now Virginia.

Hugo has been a board member with family service organizations since 1987 when he first joined the Board of Family Services in San Diego County, California. His board service has traveled with him from Cincinnati, Ohio to King County FSA in Seattle, Washington, to Northern Virginia. Hugo currently serves on the NVFS Executive Committee of the Board and as the Chair of the Governance Committee. He is also very involved with the mentoring programs for Georgetown University Health Administration program for undergraduate and graduate students pursuing their degrees in health care administration.

Hugo is married to Donna and has a son, Alexander, who just graduated from Westmont College in Santa Barbara, California. Hugo likes to travel, read, cycle, and spend time with family and friends.

She negotiates and drafts agreements related to executive employment, equity compensation, independent contracting, confidentiality, restrictive covenants and severance. She advises executive management and human resources professionals on the development, implementation and enforcement of personnel policies and risk management tools, and she is a sought-after trainer of human resources professionals, executives and line managers regarding best practices and compliance with evolving employment laws.

Misti was recently named by Virginia Lawyer’s Media as one of the 2010 “Influential Women of Virginia”, and also was listed as one of the "Top 25 Women Virginia Super Lawyers 2010" by Law and Politics Magazine.

Ms. Mukherjee has been named to Virginia’s Labor and Employment Legal Elite by Virginia Business magazine and has been designated a Super Lawyer in both Virginia and Washington, D.C. for Employment & Labor Law. She is a frequent speaker on topics of human resources trends and employment practices for the Society for Human Resource Management and other human resources organizations.

Weetie Beyer Hill is a Vice President and CFO of The Beyer Auto Group which currently consists of five car dealerships, one body shop and one independent repair shop. Her office is located in Falls Church where she has consolidated all accounting and human resources functions for all their operating companies and a multitude of other LLCs. She returned to this position in 2001 after working at American Management Systems for 11 years. At AMS, she was the Business Manager for the College & University Systems Group and the Consumer Banking Group.

Weetie most recently served on the Board of Community Residences, Inc., from 2001 thru 2008. She served on the Executive Committee from 2002-2007, and was Chairman of the Board from 2006-2007. Tony is an audit partner with Ernst & Young responsible for a number of the firm’s largest and most complex engagements. Tony has worked with numerous companies from start-ups to large international organizations, performing audits and providing assistance in many types of transactions including private and public debt and equity offerings, initial public offerings, mergers and acquisitions, and opening of new business locations domestically and internationally.

Tony currently serves as the chairman of the NVFS audit committee. Tony is also on the Board of Advisors for the accounting program at William and Mary.

Melissa A. Henderson is Summit Executive Resources’ founder, President and CEO. She is a nationally-recognized expert on global executive search strategies in the technology industry.

Previously, Melissa opened, built and led the Mid-Atlantic office of Gilbert Tweed Associates International, a global retained executive search firm. At Gilbert Tweed, Melissa also managed the firm’s global technology practice.

Prior to Gilbert Tweed Associates, she was an Executive Director with Russell Reynolds Associates, a top-four global retained executive search firm, overseeing part of the firm’s global technology practice. Earlier in her career, Melissa held leadership and management roles in several technology companies, including Gartner Group and Xerox.

Melissa is a member of several regional, national and international technology councils. She is a member of the Women’s Leadership Council of Northern Virginia Family Service, serves on the Community Leadership Council of the Virginia Hospital Center Foundation and is a Washington D.C. Chapter Member of Business Forums International. She is frequently quoted in industry publications and books, and she speaks often on issues surrounding executive recruiting and advancement.

Melissa received her B. A. in advertising management and marketing strategy and execution from Michigan State University. Melissa has continued her involvement with Michigan State University through the Washington DC Semester Internship Program where she is a semester guest speaker on professional development and career readiness. Melissa has personally sponsored interns with her own practice over the past five years. An avid wine enthusiast, she holds multiple certifications from The Sommelier Wine & Food Society.

Maryann Hirsch

Ms. Maryann Hirsch is President of Knowledge Consulting Group (KCG), a small business providing premiere information security and enterprise infrastructure design and operations services. KCG’s services include network vulnerability and risk assessment, system certification and accreditation, network intrusion detection, incident analysis and handling, and cyber security policy development and implementation. Headquartered in Reston, Virginia, KCG works with a wide range of customers in the U.S. federal government to include DoD, Civilian and Intelligence agencies.

Ms. Hirsch provides leadership for continued growth of KCG. She is responsible for day to day operations and financial controls of the company. This includes strategic planning, business development, contracts management, human resources, and recruiting. Her management experience encompasses marketing, capture management, service delivery, finance and administration.

Prior to joining KCG, Ms. Hirsch was Senior Vice President, Consulting at Federal Sources, Inc, the leading market research firm focused on the Public IT market. Ms. Hirsch was responsible for all revenue growth, profitability and operational aspects of the consulting practice. Ms. Hirsch supported customers in the areas of procurement marketing strategies, acquisition support, competitive analysis, organizational analysis, and positioning of new solution offerings within the Public sector market.

Prior to joining Federal Sources, Ms. Hirsch was Senior Manager, Business Acquisition at Sysorex Information Systems, Inc. In this capacity, Ms. Hirsch was responsible for new federal marketing efforts, including identifying and qualifying opportunities, formulating bid strategies, key vendor selection and negotiations, and developing teaming and pricing strategies. Ms. Hirsch captured contract awards totaling in excess of $600M. Ms. Hirsch was part of a new management team at Sysorex brought on board to build the business. Within three years, Maryann's team increased revenue from $22M to $100M.

Ms. Hirsch is a graduate of Mary Washington University with a BS in Business Administration. For the past 9 years, Ms. Hirsch has served on the board of George Mason University’s School of Information Technology and Engineering.

Maryann lives with her husband, Jim Oliver and her two step-children in Lowes Island, Virginia. Maryann has lived in Northern Virginia since she was five years old.

William C. Hoover has been a leader in the information systems and services market sector for more than twenty-five years. Since joining AMERICAN SYSTEMS in June 2005, Mr. Hoover has led the development of the corporate Vision/2016 and strategy that will provide the focus for the company’s continued growth as a privately-held, employee-owned company.

Before taking the helm of AMERICAN SYSTEMS, Mr. Hoover served as President and CEO of Dynamics Research Corporation, where he led the development of the company’s business growth strategy, focusing on maximizing return to shareholders by delivering documented and repeatable business solutions in identified strategic business areas.

Prior positions held by Mr. Hoover include President and Chief Executive Officer of FutureNext Consulting (FNC), a commercially-focused systems integration and consulting services company; Senior Vice President of Oracle Service Industries; Executive Vice President of BDM International, Inc.; and President & COO of PRC, Inc. Mr. Hoover began his career as a product engineer for Ford Motor Company.
Mr. Hoover also founded and led several consulting firms, serving mid-tier companies in transition, where he used his significant and successful experience to manage dynamic organizational change while simultaneously building shareholder value.

Mr. Hoover is a veteran officer of the U.S. Navy, and graduated from the U.S. Naval Academy with a Bachelor of Science degree in Aerospace Engineering. He is active in his industry and community and serves on several professional-/industry-related and Not for Profit boards, including: TechAmerica/Public Sector, Board of Directors; NDIA, Board of Directors; Marymount University, Board of Trustees; Marymount University/ School of Business Administration, Board of Visitors; Saint Luke Parish, Finance Council among others. Mr. Hoover has also served on the Electronics Industry Association, Board of Governors; AFCEA International, Board of Directors. Additionally he has served as Co-Chairman of Leukemia Society of America, National Capital Region’s Gala Fundraiser; was a member of the George Washington University/Loudoun Campus, Board of Advisors.
Brian K. Jackson -

Brian K. Jackson

Brian K. Jackson is a Senior Property Manager at The Peterson Companies, one of the largest real estate development companies in the Washington and Mid-Atlantic regions. Beginning in real estate in the mid eighties he has, over the last 25 years, established a career based on excellent service, teamwork and integrity.

During his 25 years in the real estate arena (11 with The Peterson Companies), Mr. Jackson has managed over four million square feet of diverse real estate holdings in Northern Virginia and Maryland. Mr. Jackson has experience in managing office, retail, medical, industrial/flex and residential properties. In 1993 he received the Real Property Administrator (RPA) designation from the Building Owners and Managers Association (BOMA), a leading commercial real estate trade organization. He is also a licensed real estate professional in the state of Virginia.

Currently Mr. Jackson serves as the team lead for The Peterson Companies third party management group. Some of his responsibilities include: interfacing with clients, identifying and implementing team goals, managing client deliverables, and administrative oversight.

Though a native of North Carolina, Mr. Jackson is a long time resident of Northern Virginia, moving to the area in 1972 and making Reston his home town in 1974. He is a product of Fairfax County Schools and Northern Virginia Community College.

In his spare time Mr. Jackson is an active member of his church, playing in the church band. He also is a free lance musician. Mr. Jackson is also a volunteer for Junior Achievement, teaching the JA curriculum to first graders.

Mr. Jackson resides in South Riding, Virginia with his wife, Connie and their two daughters.
Timothy F. Kenny -

Timothy F. Kenny became Freddie Mac's senior vice president and general auditor in July 2008. He reports directly to the audit committee of Freddie Mac's board of directors and administratively to CEO Charles E. "Ed" Haldeman, Jr. In this position, Kenny supervises the Internal Audit Department, which is responsible for all internal audit activities and coordinating audit practices and procedures with Freddie Mac’s external auditor. Prior to this, Kenny served as the company’s vice president and interim general auditor. He joined Freddie Mac in September 2007.

From 2001 to 2007, Mr. Kenny was a Managing Director with BearingPoint, Inc. (formerly KPMG Consulting, Inc.) in McLean, Virginia, where he directed a large team of financial professionals on a variety of financial risk management consulting projects with Ginnie Mae, the Federal Housing Administration, private sector mortgage bankers and other federal credit agencies. He was appointed a member of the BearingPoint, Inc. 401(k) Plan Committee from 2004 until his resignation in 2007. He joined KPMG LLP, the predecessor organization to KPMG Consulting, in 1986 and was a KPMG Audit Partner from 1997 until the separation of KPMG Consulting from KPMG LLP in February 2001. Mr. Kenny was a member of the Board of Directors of Farmer Mac from 2004 until 2008 where he served on the Audit and Corporate Governance Committees. The Federal Agricultural Mortgage Corporation, commonly known as “Farmer Mac,” is a New York Stock Exchange traded Government Sponsored Enterprise, created by Congress to establish a secondary market for agricultural real estate and rural housing mortgage loans. Mr. Kenny also served for four years on the Board of Directors of the Mortgage Bankers Association of Metropolitan Washington.

Mr. Kenny graduated from the University of Utah with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Accounting. He is a licensed Certified Public Accountant in the District of Columbia and a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. He lives with his wife, Tracy, and two children in Northern Virginia.

J. Douglas Koelemay

J. Douglas Koelemay is Vice President for Community Relations at Science Applications International Corporation (SAIC), a FORTUNE 500 scientific, engineering, and technology company, in McLean, Virginia. SAIC uses its deep domain knowledge to solve problems of vital importance to the nation and the world in national security, energy and the environment, critical infrastructure and health. Koelemay brings four decades of communications, public outreach, policy development and political strategy experience to his work with business, educational, community and charitable groups.

Before joining SAIC, Koelemay served as managing director at Qorvis Communications, LLC from 2003 to 2008. Prior to that position, he was Vice President of Public Affairs for the Northern Virginia Technology Council (NVTC), an industry group of more than 1,200 technology companies and associated firms; a Congressional assistant to Sen. Frank Lautenberg (D-NJ) and Rep. Robert Mollohan (D-WV); a Foreign Service Officer in the U.S. Department of State, the Arms Control & Disarmament Agency, Malawi, Barbados and Switzerland; and a journalist.

Virginia Gov. Timothy M. Kaine appointed Koelemay to the Commonwealth Transportation Board in 2006 and reappointed him in 2008 for a full four-year term. The Fairfax County Board of Supervisors appointed Koelemay to the Tysons Corner Transportation and Urban Design Study Coordinating Committee in 2005. Koelemay served as an appointee of Gov. Mark R. Warner on the Virginia Research and Technology Advisory Commission from 2002 to 2006. Lee District Supervisor Jeff McKay named Koelemay a “Lord Fairfax” in 2009 in recognition of his civic involvement.

Koelemay coordinated the participation of NVTC companies in the World Congress on Information Technology in 1998, the Commonwealth of Virginia’s landmark Internet policy and anti-spamming legislation in 1999 and the passage of the historic UCITA and UETA acts in 2000. He currently serves on the Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics/Health & Human Science Executive Advisory Council at James Madison University, the Corporate Advisory Board of the College of Science at George Mason University and the board of CelebrateFairfax! Koelemay received his bachelor’s degree in history from Centenary College of Louisiana with graduate studies at the Institute for International Politics at the University of South Carolina and at the Foreign Service Institute in Arlington.

She is the Founder and President of Devotion to Children, a Non-Profit Organization that advocates and helps provide affordable, quality childcare for working parents.

In 2001, Rosemary joined Long and Foster as a Commercial Real Estate Agent. Rosemary currently sits on the Advisory Board for Virginia Commerce Bank and donates 10 percent of her yearly income to support charities.

My-Chau Nguyen is a senior sales and marketing executive with 30 years of business experience, including 20 years in high tech/telecommunications. She is currently the Sr VP, Customer Relationship Marketing at SiriusXM Radio, the leader in audio entertainment. In her current role, Ms. Nguyen is responsible for acquisition and re-acquisition marketing. She is based in Washington, DC.

Prior to joining SiriusXM in 2006, Ms Nguyen held senior marketing and sales roles at Nextel, Earthlink, AOL, Cable & Wireless, Sprint and Xerox. Her background covers all aspects of marketing/sales in Consumer and Business to Business (Enterprise, General Business and Public Sector).

She is a graduate of the American University (Washington DC) and received a Strategic Business Leadership certificate from Georgetown University McDonough School of Business.

Ms. Nguyen lives with her husband Thong Nguyen in Great Falls, VA and has two grown daughters. In her spare time, she works with various non-profit organizations on marketing projects and special events. She also enjoys golfing, traveling and spending time at her week-end retreat in nearby Annapolis, MD.

Steve Nickelsburg is a partner in Clifford Chance’s U.S. Litigation & Dispute Resolution
Practice. His practice focuses on complex civil litigation, government investigations,
transactional due diligence, and compliance counseling. He represents clients in matters
involving antitrust and unfair competition law, the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act, the
Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act (RICO), the False Claims Act, the
securities laws, fraud and conspiracy, anti-money laundering, and tax law. He also
advises multinational companies in connection with transactional risks and in designing
and implementing their compliance programs. He has appeared before a variety of federal
agencies and in federal and state courts, including the federal district courts and courts of
appeals and the US Supreme Court.
Mr. Nickelsburg served as law clerk to Associate Justice Anthony M. Kennedy of the
United States Supreme Court and Chief Judge J. Harvie Wilkinson III of the US Court of
Appeals for the Fourth Circuit.
Mr. Nickelsburg is a graduate of the University of Virginia School of Law, where he served
as Editor-in-Chief of the Virginia Law Review and was elected to the Order of the Coif.
Mr. Nickelsburg earned his Bachelor of Science in Engineering from Duke University and
Master of Science from Northeastern University.

Shawn Purvis

Shawn Purvis is vice president of the Integrated Intelligence Systems (IIS) business unit for Northrop Grumman’s Intelligence Systems division. In this role, Ms. Purvis is responsible for all aspects of the IIS’s business, including strategy, growth, customer relationships and program execution. IIS is a $500-million business with broad capabilities centered on the successful delivery of IT solutions to solve key customer’s PED requirements. IIS BU has a broad depth of technical expertise and continues to expand its market position in the Open Source Intelligence, geospatial intelligence, enterprise IT solutions, national intelligence, defense intelligence applications and irregular warfare/counter narco-terrorism business area.

Prior to joining Northrop Grumman, Ms. Purvis held positions of increasing scope and responsibility with SAIC. Most recently, Ms. Purvis served as senior vice president of SAIC’s Processing Exploitation and Dissemination Operation in the Intelligence Systems business unit, where she was responsible for managing all aspects of this $300-million, 800-person business. During her tenor at SAIC, Ms. Purvis demonstrated successful leadership of major, complex software and system programs. She has proven program experience with intelligence systems development and sustainment, integrated intelligence collection and analysis, information management, dissemination and provisioning of timely and relevant information, and direct operational support of national and defense integrated intelligence requirements.
Previous to her career at SAIC, Ms. Purvis worked at Lockheed Martin as senior systems engineer, supporting infrastructure, web and systems development. She graduated from Lockheed’s Engineer Leadership Development Program (ELDP).

Ms. Purvis has significant experience in the intelligence industry and has a deep technical background in delivering Intelligence IT solutions to key customers such as DIA, NGA and DoD. Ms. Purvis maintains a proven track record of sustained business growth with large government Intelligence programs across a broad range of customers and contract vehicles

Ms. Purvis has a bachelor’s degree in computer science from Hampton University and a master’s degree in information systems from George Mason University. She earned her program management certification and successfully graduated from The Executive Program at UVA’s Darden Business School. She currently serves on the Board of Directors for the Northern Virginia Family Services.

Mike Springman is vice president of special projects for Northrop Grumman’s Civil Systems division. His current assignment is program manager for the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Information Technology Support - St. Elizabeths program. This program is a 10-year, $2.6 billion, mission-critical program for DHS. Mike leads a team that will develop and integrate the secure IT infrastructure for DHS Headquarters and selected component agencies that are relocating to the former St. Elizabeths hospital complex in southeast Washington, D.C.

Prior to his current assignment, he was vice president of Business Transformation Programs, a portfolio of enterprise systems that includes Defense Integrated Military Human Resources System (DIMHRS), Defense Travel System, e-Travel/GovTrip (for Federal Civilian agencies), and Global Exchange (GEX).

Previously, Mike was vice president/program manager for Northrop Grumman’s Human Capital Management business, which included DIMHRS, an integrated personnel/pay system for DoD. Prior to that, he was chief information officer (CIO) for Northrop Grumman’s $5 billion Mission Systems sector, providing IT infrastructure and services for 20,000 employees at major campuses and remote sites across the U.S. and internationally. He was responsible for the sector’s IT strategy and operations.

He was director of battle command within Northrop Grumman’s Mission Systems sector. His business unit developed and deployed tactical command, control and communication systems for U.S. Army, U.S. Marine Corps, Joint and Coalition customers. His organization was responsible for the rapid implementation of the Blue Force Tracking technology that supported military operations for Operations Iraqi and Enduring Freedom. He has managed programs for the Air Force’s missile warning system, B-2 avionics integration, enterprise resource planning (ERP) implementations, and IT outsourcing.

Mike joined Northrop Grumman in 1975 via Northrop’s acquisition of TRW. He earned his master’s degree in applied mathematics from the University of Colorado, Boulder, and his bachelor’s degree in mathematics from Southwest Minnesota State University. He has completed the executive management program at the University of California, Los Angeles.

Mike is Chairman Emeritus of the Greater Los Angeles Chapter of the Association of the U.S. Army (AUSA), and is a long-time member of multiple professional organizations. He lives near Leesburg, Va. with his wife, Tracey, and has three college and high school age children.
