--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Group Now Forming for Winter Clases 2007
Dates TBD
Every Tuesday from 7:00 - 8:30 PM

This is a 7-week class for teens between ages 15 and 17 that begins in January 2007. Topics include anger management, developing good social skills, stress reduction, communication skills, decision making and more.

For more information or to register, call 703.219.2185.

Purpose: Equipping Teens is based on the Equip model, a proven group approach for teens that integrates anger management with other important goals for teens. Participants discuss video clips, try out new skills, and play our own version of TV's "Millionaire" game. Each session includes an opportunity for teens to give each other advice and feedback about difficulties they face.

Leaders: Groups are co-led by professional social workers and family clinicians from Northern Virginia Family Service. Certificates of attendance are awarded to participants who complete at least 6 of the 7 sessions.

Cost: Cost is $175 for all seven classes; $150 if paid in advance. A sliding fee scale is available for those who qualify.

Participants: Youth between the ages of 15 and 18, currently enrolled in high school, are welcome to attend. Participants should not be active users of alcohol or other drugs; they should not have felony convictions; and they must not pose a risk of serious harm to themselves or others.

Registration: Registration is now open. An intake interview is required for pre-registration. This can be conducted by phone or in person. There is an additional $25 charge for 50 minute in-person intake interviews. Space is limited.

Location: 10455 White Granite Drive, Suite 100, Oakton, VA 22124 (at the intersection of Route 123 and I-66).

Referrals from probation officers, school counselors, therapists, and parents are all welcome.
