Every Tuesday from 7:00 - 8:30 PM
This is a 7-week class for teens
between ages 15 and 17 that begins in January 2007.
Topics include anger management, developing good social
skills, stress reduction, communication skills, decision
making and more.

Purpose:
Equipping Teens is based on the Equip model, a proven
group approach for teens that integrates anger management
with other important goals for teens. Participants
discuss video clips, try out new skills, and play
our own version of TV's "Millionaire" game.
Each session includes an opportunity for teens to
give each other advice and feedback about difficulties
they face.
Leaders:
Groups are co-led by professional social workers and
family clinicians from Northern Virginia Family Service.
Certificates of attendance are awarded to participants
who complete at least 6 of the 7 sessions.
Cost: Cost
is $175 for all seven classes; $150 if paid in advance.
A sliding fee scale is available for those who qualify.
Participants:
Youth between the ages of 15 and 18, currently enrolled
in high school, are welcome to attend. Participants
should not be active users of alcohol or other drugs;
they should not have felony convictions; and they
must not pose a risk of serious harm to themselves
or others.
Registration:
Registration is now open. An intake interview is required
for pre-registration. This can be conducted by phone
or in person. There is an additional $25 charge for
50 minute in-person intake interviews. Space is limited.

Referrals from probation officers,
school counselors, therapists, and parents are all
welcome.
