Healthcare Enrollment Deadline Two Weeks Away

NVFS Opens New Office Hours to Help Applicants

(Oakton, Va., March 17, 2014)
With the enrollment deadline for health insurance approaching in just two weeks, Northern Virginia Family Service, in partnership with other local nonprofits, has opened their doors to help enroll applicants.

For the quickest self-service, Virginia residents can enroll in a health insurance plan by going online to www.healthcare.gov or www.cuidadodesalud.gov or by calling 1-800-318-2596.

Northern Virginians can schedule a one-one-one appointment with a Certified Application Counselor at one of 13 locations by calling 571-748-2580. These sessions are conducted in both English and Spanish. In addition to the previously announced appointment schedule, applicants can now select appointments at:

  • Falls Church, Sunday, March 23 and 30, 11 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.
  • Oakton, Monday, March 31, 9 a.m. – 9 p.m.

Because the full-service, one-on-one sessions fill quickly, NVFS has created another flexible option for enrollees who need assistance: do-it-yourself sign-up events, where applicants will have access to computers and roaming Certified Application Counselors. CACs can answer questions or help resolve any issues that may arise during the process. The open office hours will be held:

As a courtesy to volunteers and other applicants, walk-ins are highly discouraged. For both the one-on-one CAC sessions and the do-it-yourself open office hours, applicants must call NVFS at 571-748-2580 to schedule their appointment time.

“Northern Virginia Family Service is committed to helping our clients, especially in getting and staying healthy,” says Mary Agee, NVFS president and CEO. “As of the end of February, NVFS and our dedicated volunteer corps of 70 certified counselors have helped more than 1,000 families. We could not have done this without their help and commitment.”
