Established in 1924, Northern Virginia Family Service is a private, non-profit community service organization dedicated to helping individuals and families find new paths to self-reliance and brighter futures. WHY: Each year, NVFS hosts its premier public event, the Road to Independence Gala, to celebrate the accomplishments of our community programs as well as recognize our contributors and raise critical support. This year’s event is especially supported by our lead sponsor, TD Bank, as well as valuable in-kind contributions from many corporate partners. Along with silent and live auctions, dinner and a short program, the night will include the bestowing of the Community Champion Awards. The awards will be presented by last year’s winners Dr. JC Hayward and The Honorable Tom Davis. This year’s winners are Dr. Marian Houk and James & May Liang Lintott.
