This seminar is geared to help parents with children shift their attention from the personal aspects of divorce or separation to the needs of their children. It emphasizes each parent's responsibility to provide a nuturing, non-threatening environment for their children. This is an educational program that helps parents lessen the negative impact of divorce on their children by focusing on separation as seen through the eyes of children. This seminar also impresses upon parents the official role they play to their child's ability to adjust to the changes in their lives.
Topics covered in this four-hour seminar include:
- Feelings associated with separation/divorce;
- Ways that children of different ages react during transitions;
- A parenting approach that will benefit the children;
- Suggested ways for talking to children about the changes;
- New family structures and the roles of other adults
Transparenting meets the parent education guidelines developed by the Supreme Court of Virginia in response to mandated divorce education that became effective on July 1, 2001.
