Road to Independence Gala to Celebrate NVFS' Achievements
Evening to Feature Testimony Speaker from Hurricane Katrina Program

Oakton, Va., April 21, 2006-Each spring, Northern Virginia Family Service (NVFS) hosts its annual Road to Independence Gala to celebrate the numerous important achievements of the past year. One of this year's two featured testimony speakers is a client from the agency's newest program that assists Hurricane Katrina evacuees who are living in Northern Virginia. The testimony speakers, who are the highlight of the event, will share their stories of how they overcame challenges on the path to success.

The gala offers a chance to learn more about the work done through a variety of programs for those most in need in our community. The gala also serves to generate support and crucial funds for NVFS programs that encourage, teach and empower individuals and families to improve their lives.

The Road to Independence Gala 2006 will be held at the Hilton McLean Tysons Corner on Friday, May 5. General reception begins at 6:30 p.m. The evening will include great networking opportunities, as well as silent and live auctions, dinner and entertainment by the Capitol Steps.

Businesses and individuals may support the gala through several types of sponsorships. Individual tickets are also available for $150. For more information and complimentary media registration, contact Kristin Derlunas at 703-219-2123.

Established in 1924, Northern Virginia Family Service is a private, non-profit community service resource dedicated to helping individuals and families find new paths to self-reliance and brighter futures. Each year, NVFS helps more than 27,000 people find affordable housing and health care for their children, earn a living wage and much more. For more information, visit www.nvfs.org.
