Dr. Karlgaard to Chair
Road to Independence Gala
Oakton,
Va., Jan. 12, 2005-Northern Virginia Family
Service (NVFS) is pleased to announce that its Road
to Independence Gala 2005 will be chaired by one of
the region’s most prominent business leaders, Dr.
David Karlgaard, Chairman of the Board and CEO of
PEC Solutions in Fairfax.
“NVFS is honored to have such a distinguished leader
as Dr. Karlgaard supporting its efforts to raise funds
and public awareness through this year’s Road to Independence
Gala,” said NVFS President and CEO Mary Agee. “I am
confident that with his direction we will have an
extremely successful and enjoyable event.”

Dr. Karlgaard said. “Northern Virginia Family Service
is an organization with an outstanding reputation
for helping thousands of people to improve their lives.
The Gala will provide an exceptional opportunity to
support and celebrate these important achievements.”
Dr. Karlgaard has served as a technical contributor
and manager in the information sciences industry for
more than 30 years. He was employed for eight years
as an electrical engineer at several U.S. Government
research laboratories, nine years as an electrical
engineer and executive at Computer Sciences Corporation,
and 20 years in his current position at PEC Solutions.
Dr. Karlgaard is an Adjunct Professor at The George
Washington University. He is a founder and serves
on the Board of Directors of James Monroe Bank, a
local community bank. He also serves on the Board
of Directors of Rising Edge Technologies, a start-up
company focusing on storage solutions and Argon ST,
a defense electronics firm.
Dr. Karlgaard is a participant in the Professional
Services Council, Northern Virginia Technology Council
and has served as President of the Washington Technology
Fast 50 Council. He is married, with two grown children
and has lived in the Northern Virginia area since
1967.
The gala event will be held on Friday, April 22 at
the Hilton McLean Tysons Corner. Festivities will
include a reception, dinner, silent and live auction,
and special program with entertainment to be announced
at a later date.
