"NVFS has really opened up my eyes to a new world"

Youth Development

Alvaro began his experience with NVFS working as a case manager assisting families with medical and dental assistance, which sparked his interest in working with youth and their families. Working in the nonprofit sector “has really opened up my eyes to a new world,” he shares.

Alvaro has continued to grow in his experience with NVFS, which offers training and feedback to help employees develop, and varied opportunities to expand their skill sets across the agency.

“My goal is to help grow my current program and also to develop new programs for teenagers and their families,” he notes.

Alvaro also counts the diversity of NVFS’ staff as a unique component that not only adds to the agency’s cultural awareness, but helps the agency better serve its clients.

“It’s rare for a nonprofit to have such a diverse population working internally,” Alvaro observes. “That makes us stand out, and it helps us as employees because when our clients come in the office, they feel at home. They feel at ease.”
