Christine Tipton, CAE, IOM

Christine Tipton, CAE, IOM is an association executive with nearly 20 years providing leadership to global scientific, health, and research organizations and nonprofits. Currently leading the Division Engagement Office at the American Psychological Association, Tipton is seen as a consensus builder who works effectively across organizations by engaging with diverse stakeholders and partners, and focusing on mission. In 2022, Tipton was awarded the “Forty Under 40” recognition by Association Forum.

In 2008, Tipton became a Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) with SCAN of Northern Virginia and spent the next several years advocating in the court system on behalf of children who had been abused or neglected. To make such an enormous impact on the life of a child is why she describes her time as a CASA as “hands down the most rewarding volunteer opportunity” she’s ever experienced. Tipton continued her work with SCAN over the years in various volunteer capacities, including serving as President of SCAN’s Board of Directors from 2022-2024, prior to joining the NVFS Board of Directors in 2025.

Originally from Winter Park, Florida, Tipton was recruited to attend the University of Virginia as a Division I rower where she helped secure the ACC Championship each year she competed and where she earned her bachelor’s degree in English language and literature. She and her husband live in the Virginia countryside with their 5-year-old daughter, Elle.
