Resources for Certified Foster Parents

NVFS offers a variety of foster care resources. As an NVFS foster parent, you must obtain 24 hours of in-service training within one year, in addition to CPR and First Aid. It is important that these hours be completed in a timely manner, not only to support you and your foster child(ren), but so that NVFS is in compliance with its licensing standards.

Our monthly support group counts for 1.5 hours per session. You may also seek out training opportunities online or through your child’s school, local library, religious organization, and county services. NVFS staff will be available throughout the process for any guidance you may need.

NVFS has guidelines for approved trainings as well as a list of recommended trainings. Please document your hours on the training log sheet and turn in a signed sheet to your social worker at your annual reevaluation.
