$100,000 Awarded to NVFS for Best Practices in Housing Local Homeless

The Virginia Housing Trust Fund has awarded $100,000 to NVFS’ rapid re-housing program for its effectiveness, sustainability, and alignment with state policies. NVFS has decreased the length of stay at SERVE from 180 to 240 days in 2009 down to today’s average of 45 days. Shorter shelter stays lead to increased stability and self-sufficiency for clients as well as an overall reduction in costs. Learn more here.

The $100,000 award will support SERVE, where NVFS’ best practices in rapid re-housing were first implemented and have since earned Rapid Re-Housing Certification by the National Alliance to End Homelessness.

Our 25th Strikes for SERVE Bowl-a-thon is Saturday, March 12

Join in the fun and register your team today for our annual Strikes for SERVE Bowl-a-thon at the Manassas Bowl America! This is an awesome afternoon filled with bowling, music, fundraising prizes, a 50/50 raffle and more! All proceeds support the SERVE campus, dedicated to ending hunger and homelessness. To register your team, to sponsor or to donate, visit www.nvfs.org/bowlathon. Contact: Pam Boyle at 571.748.2537.
