  • All Alexandrians must be vigilant and act now to protect our community from COVID-19 coronavirus spread. The Alexandria Health Department strongly urges everyone to stay home except for essential trips such as grocery stores and medical care.
  • To get alerts, text COVID19 to 888777.
  • If you are concerned you may have COVID-19, call your primary care physician to ask whether you should come for an exam or test before visiting in person. If you don’t have a primary care physician or health insurance, call an urgent care center to check their availability and to ensure they are prepared for your visit.
  • For questions about COVID-19, call the Alexandria COVID-19 Information Line at 703.746.4988, weekdays from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
  • Virginia residents can also call the Virginia Department of Health public information line, 877-ASK-VDH3, for questions about the novel coronavirus situation.
  • If you have chest pain or shortness of breath, call or text 911.

  • MD Governor issues new orders closing all non-essential businesses, orgs, & facilities at 5 p.m. City trash, recycling, & yard waste collections continue w/ some changes. Special pickups are canceled. The state is working to open more testing sites soon.
