Friends of SERVE invites you to its 2nd annual Cinco de Mayo Celebration
(Manassas, VA – April 22, 2011) Friends of SERVE invites you to its 2nd annual Cinco de Mayo Happy Hour on Thursday, May 5 at The Winery at La Grange from 5:30-7:30PM. Don’t miss this opportunity to join the fun in support of an important cause—helping individuals and families in our community find new paths to brighter futures.
Taste great wines, sample delicious appetizers and network with emerging leaders in the community. Tickets are $15 for members; $20 for non-members; free if you join Friends of SERVE at the event. Friends of SERVE, established in 2009, is a membership organization of individuals and businesses dedicated to working to end homelessness and poverty in the Prince William area.
SERVE is a program of Northern Virginia Family Service, a private nonprofit established in 1924 that is dedicated to helping individuals and families find new paths to self-reliance and brighter futures. SERVE distributes $2 million worth of food annually to over 900 families each month, as well as providing shelter to 120 homeless families and 450 homeless single adults, and over $176,000 annually in rent, utility and gas assistance.
Established in 1924, NVFS is a private, nonprofit community service resource dedicated to helping vulnerable families and children. Each year, NVFS helps nearly 33,000 people find affordable housing; utilize counseling and child development programs; access low-cost medical and dental services; make use of foster and respite care; participate in job training; benefit from torture and trauma recover; and much more.
