Help local kids have
a great start to
the new school year!
Early planning is the key to a Back-to-School drive that supports more than 1,800 students in need.
"It's still early in the summer - why donate today? Some schools don't start until after Labor Day."
Donations for our students are always welcome and helpful - but early donations make our Back-to-School drive more effective. Backpacks are distributed to case workers in early August so that there is time to deliver them to students, and some local schools begin the year as early as two weeks before Labor Day.

Help NVFS buy supplies
Thanks to special purchasing programs, NVFS is able to buy supplies at a value that beats retail price. Every $1 donated by July 27 can purchase $2 worth of school supplies. This means that your cash, check, or credit card donations can go farther toward helping us meet the needs of vulnerable local students.
You can also mail a check (payable to NVFS, with BTS in the memo line) to:
Northern Virginia Family Service

Please note, should contributions to our Back to School Drive exceed our budgeted need, gifts will be directed to where they are needed most - to help children and families living in poverty throughout Northern Virginia.
Donations of new backpacks and new school supplies (we unfortunately cannot accept these items after use) will be accepted on July 29 and August 1:

Thank you, Beatty Management, for generously donating this space!
- We are especially in need of new larger-sized backpacks for our middle and high school-aged students. As you are shopping, please consider donating these more generous sizes.
- Gender-neutral colors are preferable for all grade levels.
- Elementary and kindergarten backpacks should be large enough to accommodate pocket folders, notebooks and pencil boxes (as adorable as they are, please, no mini backpacks).
- As a reminder, schools in our service area do not allow students to use wheeled backpacks.
