Hyatt Uplifts Northern Virginia by Partnering with NVFS

How Hyatt impacts our neighbors by acting as both role models and community partners

Hyatt Regency Tysons Corner Center awards $10,000 grant to NVFSThrough the years, Hyatt Regency Tysons Corner Center’s investment in Northern Virginia Family Service (NVFS) has ranged from hands-on volunteering efforts to directly funding NVFS programs.

Each year, Hyatt focuses on NVFS’ Head Start program by spending a day at our centers uplifting our youngest clients through the power of reading, crafting and more.

“The Hyatt team uses this time to work with the children on a creative project and foster new connections as role models,” shares Hyatt Director of Human Resources Annette Sanner. “The hands-on volunteer activities greatly impact our employees in a positive way. Every volunteer leaves with a huge smile and the feeling that they have made a difference in the community.”

Hyatt also generously donates school supplies to the children at Head Start, equipping them with books, glue, scissors, crayons, colored pencils and items in need to ensure they’re prepared for success throughout the year.

Hyatt team members also enjoy working with NVFS’ Healthy Families and Training Futures programs.

“Hyatt’s motto is ‘We care for people so they can be their best,’ and we believe that partnering with NVFS allows us to live out our motto in the community through volunteer and outreach events,” says Sanner. “[Training Futures and Healthy Families] are close to our hearts, as they demonstrate care and compassion for families in Northern Virginia who need help in providing a better life for their children and themselves.”

NVFS’ most recent engagement with Hyatt has been a $10,000 community grant, which was awarded to us to cover operating expenses and provide supplies and resources for low-income families and children.

“We continue to volunteer our time when we can, but we understand that financial assistance will go a long way for the growth of the programs,” Sanner shares. “Hyatt intends to continue our relationship with NVFS through volunteer experiences and inviting our local partners to donate supplies and volunteer time to the organization as often as we can.”

“The work that NVFS does in the community allows low-income families to receive access to necessary education and resources in the community and Hyatt is proud to be a partner and help the organization make it possible.”
