Hana Tsige moved from Ethiopia to the United States in 2015 in hopes of having a better life and career, but her experience and leadership in the hospitality industry wasn’t enough to equip her with a stable career upon her move.

“I ended up accepting a job as a cashier at a gas station to support my family,” Hana shared.

It wasn’t until a social worker mentioned NVFS’ Training Futures to Hana that she had a glimmer of hope in utilizing her skills in the workplace again.

“I dedicated myself to training,” said Hana. “I came to Training Futures to get a better job, and it turned out better than I could have expected.”

Hana learned administrative skills to add to her customer service skillset, which immediately helped her upon graduation to land a job with TD Bank. She now works full-time, has benefits and because of Training Futures, experienced a 60 percent increase in salary.
