How NVFS’ Interconnected Resources Boost Its Immigration Legal Services’ Success

NVFS would like to thank Booz Allen Hamilton for going above and beyond in its service and support of NVFS’ Training Futures program, dedicating their time and efforts to teaching clients of all backgrounds skills in workforce etiquette, interview techniques and more. This partnership is helping clients of NVFS regain control of their lives and careers.

NVFS’ Village of Impact family giving program provides Northern Virginia families with meaningful opportunities to: engage in service together, learn about critical local needs, and generate funds for NVFS. Our next event is Aug. 12, and will focus on the importance of education in Northern Virginia, with a special project to help prepare children in our community for the upcoming school year.

We know school just let out for summer, but that doesn’t stop us from gearing up for the 2017-18 school year! Our Back-to-School drive is now accepting donations and supplies that will ensure local children in need can start off the school year successfully.

For every $1 donated by July 27, we will be able to purchase $2 worth of supplies.

Going to summer camp is a rite of passage for most children, but not every child gets this opportunity. This is particularly so for homeless kids, so with support from volunteers, we brought Camp Discovery to them at both the Hilda Barg and SERVE shelters!

As the kids enjoy summer camp, the campers’ parents can more efficiently search for jobs, arrange interviews, schedule appointments, and submit applications to move their family out of homelessness and into stable housing.

Volunteer: Our top volunteer needs this month take place at our Hunger Resource Center (we need client intake volunteers and food recovery drivers). We are also seeking a database dynamo!

Summer Camp Items: Craft supplies, musical instruments, LEGOs, chalk, bubbles, puppets and more! If it’s educational and fun, we’d love to have it for our campers, all of whom are guests at our shelters.
