How NVFS’ Interconnected Resources Boost Its Immigration Legal Services’ Success
NVFS’ legal team prides itself on being part of NVFS’ wraparound service model. Legal clients are connected with a case manager, mental health services and interpreter. Today, Judith – who fled the Democratic Republic of the Congo out of fear for her safety – attests to how NVFS helped her journey from profound fear and uncertainty to personal and career success.

Inspiring and Engaging Every Generation Through Village of Impact
NVFS’ Village of Impact family giving program provides Northern Virginia families with meaningful opportunities to: engage in service together, learn about critical local needs, and generate funds for NVFS. Our next event is Aug. 12, and will focus on the importance of education in Northern Virginia, with a special project to help prepare children in our community for the upcoming school year.
Back-to-School Drive: Empower Local Students!
We know school just let out for summer, but that doesn’t stop us from gearing up for the 2017-18 school year! Our Back-to-School drive is now accepting donations and supplies that will ensure local children in need can start off the school year successfully.
For every $1 donated by July 27, we will be able to purchase $2 worth of supplies.
Would you rather donate supplies? Click here for drop-off details for new backpacks and new supplies. For more information on specific items, please visit our wishlist.
“Camp Discovery” Impacts Children of SERVE and Hilda Barg Shelters
Going to summer camp is a rite of passage for most children, but not every child gets this opportunity. This is particularly so for homeless kids, so with support from volunteers, we brought Camp Discovery to them at both the Hilda Barg and SERVE shelters!
As the kids enjoy summer camp, the campers’ parents can more efficiently search for jobs, arrange interviews, schedule appointments, and submit applications to move their family out of homelessness and into stable housing.
Summer Camp Items: Craft supplies, musical instruments, LEGOs, chalk, bubbles, puppets and more! If it’s educational and fun, we’d love to have it for our campers, all of whom are guests at our shelters.

“I came to Training Futures because I was looking to enter the job market where my foreign diploma was not yet doing me any good. I had no idea what I wanted to accomplish. I can now say for sure that coming to Training Futures was a wise decision and all the hard work was worth it. I have found my true calling.”
