SERVE Campus to Hold Super Thrift Yard Sale

(Oakton, Va., September 4, 2014)  Northern Virginia Family Service will present for sale some of its thrift shop inventory at its Super Thrift Yard Sale, Saturday, Oct. 18, 9 a.m. – 2 p.m., at the SERVE Campus, 10056 Dean Drive in Manassas. The event will be held rain or shine.

Savvy shoppers can not only find great buys, but also save even more at this event by bringing a donation of nonperishable items to SERVE’s Food Distribution Center (now called the Hunger Resource Center) the day of the sale. Customers will receive a coupon to take 10% off their yard sale purchase in return for their canned food donation.

NVFS operates three thrift shops: Save ‘N’ Serve in Manassas*, which is celebrating its one-year anniversary in the Portsmouth Shopping Center, and the Clock Tower Thrift Shops in Centreville and Falls Church. The stores feature new and gently-used clothing and shoes, electronics, home items, small furniture, jewelry, books and collectibles. Similar items will be featured at the yard sale.

Revenue from the thrift shops and the Super Thrift Yard Sale will benefit Northern Virginia Family Service, which helps more than 36,000 local individuals and families fight poverty through programs like SERVE, Training Futures workforce development, and Head Start. The thrift shops rely on donations and volunteers to ensure continuous operation. For more information or to get involved, please visit www.nvfs.org.
